Find Relief From Nasal Congestion
Nasal polyps are soft, painless, non-cancerous growths that start in the nasal sinuses and grow into the nasal passages, leading to recurrent or ongoing sinus infections and problems with tasting and smelling. They are caused by ongoing inflammation.
People with sinus disease and polyps (called chronic rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps (CRSwNPs)) suffer from ongoing nasal congestion, drainage, sinus pain or pressure, and often debilitating fatigue. It often occurs with other medical problems like asthma and allergic reactions to over-the-counter pain relievers (i.e. NSAIDs).
For years, the Nasal Polyps treatment was surgery (i.e., polypectomy) and steroids. However, polyps may reoccur after a polypectomy, up to 60% of the time. Alternatively, steroid medications used to treat polyps may cause short-term and permanent side effects, such as causing a person to gain weight and develop other medical conditions, such as diabetes, osteoporosis, psychological problems, and infections like pneumonia. As a result, newer therapies have been designed to precisely target nasal polyps and halt the ongoing inflammation in the nasal canal, avoiding the use of steroids and the need for repeated surgery.
Dr. Modena and team have a decade of experience treating and researching sinus disease and Nasal Polyps in San Diego.
His research uses microbiome, genetics, inflammatory biomarkers, and machine learning/artificial intelligence to improve and personalize medical therapies. At Modena Allergy & Asthma, we are leading the way in using machine learning and predictive modeling to develop personalized medical therapies, often involving the use and correct selection of newer monoclonal antibody therapies or even alternative therapies. Further, we now offer several options for newer, cutting-edge technologies and the ability to participate in clinical trials. For our patients in San Diego Nasal Polyps does not have to be a problem anymore!

By participating, you may receive study-related supplies, medication, and examinations at no cost, as well as compensation of up to $100 per visit and additional travel support.
A Phase 3 trial that aims to determine how safe and effective an investigational drug is at treating nasal polyps. This trial includes a placebo arm.
A Phase 4 trial determining the long-term effectiveness of a therapy that has already been FDA-approved for the treatment of Nasal Polyps. There is no placebo arm in this study.
A Phase 4 trial comparing how effective two FDA-approved therapies are at reducing polyp size and improving sense of smell. There is no placebo arm in this study.
